I have had a couple different ideas of the meaning of resilience. Somehow, the casual use of the term in Transition lore failed to satisfy my curiousity about practical meanings and connections with our activities.

In this newsletter from the Port Carbon Institute I found some specifics. And, it's no surprise that they speak of the same tactics that I've been hearing in our Transition group. But it was helpful to hear some familiar concepts stated slightly differently.

So David, do you have a copy of Local Dollars, Local Sense?   Was thinking you might come up with the most practical starting place for TSV members to take some action.  if guidelines are specific enough so it makes sense to me and seems doable, it should be to anyone.  Study groups don't seem to lead to much action in my experience - a plan by one person, then some feedback and agreement by a group of members to proceed might work better.  I found this out with the Grow Your Own event.  The first year my enthusiasm initiated it and then this year there were many more hands to help make it happen.
